Centre Stage: American Quartet

Join us at the home of the CBSO for an informal afternoon performance, programmed and introduced by CBSO musicians. These concerts give audiences the chance to get closer to the music and experience the artistry of our orchestra members in an intimate setting.
Jessie Montgomery's Strum has an expansive sound and explores motives and rhythmic layering throughout a journey that opens with nostalgia and concludes with feelings of celebration. Similar to his 'New World' Symphony (and written shortly after), Dvořák's String Quartet No.12 features echoes of African American Spirituals, intertwined with influences of the Bohemian-Slavic folk music of his native land.
Centre Stage concerts are generously supported by John Osborn CBE.
