String Quartet at The Exchange

Grab a cup of coffee at The Exchange and enjoy an afternoon of live music.
Find us in the in the Banking Hall Café alongside the University of Birmingham’s breathtaking Helios installation by British artist Luke Jerram, where a string quartet of CBSO musicians will be performing works by Dvořák, Adams and Montgomery.
Jessie Montgomery's Strum has an expansive sound and explores motives and rhythmic layering throughout a journey that opens with nostalgia and concludes with feelings of celebration. Similar to his 'New World' Symphony (and written shortly after), Dvořák mixes African American Spirituals with the traditional Bohemian-Slavic folk music of his native land in his String Quartet No.12, making for a compelling musical landscape.
CBSO in the City is made possible thanks to the generous support of NBB Waldrons and John Osborn.
